Foyer/Hallway/Railing (Upstairs and Downstairs!):

It's been an exciting week for our house!!!  Huge props to Ben (and Mr. Ronnie and Ms. Karen) for the much needed improvements.  It's amazing what a little paint can do!

Party of One.

Happy New Year!

We celebrated by watching the Dawgs (lose!) at the Mayfields and then joining the Lockharts for some games and the peach drop.  Harris and Babe amazed us and stayed awake long enough to count down and shout out "Happy New Year!" and then enjoy a little "bubbly" (Martinelli's Sparkling Cider) in their sippy cups.

Needless to say, bedtime rolled around shortly after.  At least for all children involved.

While it's hard to imagine another year as absolutely awesome as 2010, I'm looking forward to all that 2011 has in store...

Happy, Happy New Year!

Crayon Maker.

One of homeboy's favorite Christmas gifts this year has been the crayon maker BeBe got for him.  It's the only toy he asked for after seeing an advertisement on television, and so far it has not disappointed.

Except for the fact that it takes about twenty-five minutes to actually make the crayons.

That's a small price to pay to see my sweet boy smile.

Friends and Family.

In additon to all of the laughing/playing/sleeping/football watching/eating/relaxing/cleaning we've done over the last couple of weeks, I've really, really enjoyed the time we've been able to spend with various friends and family members during our break.  I'm quite certain we've had lunch and/or dinner with a different set of special folks every day for the last week, and it's been absolutely awesome!

On Wednesday of last week, we headed up to Athens to spend the evening with Mema, Rosie, Mary Katherine, Daniel, and Jack.  In case it isn't obvious, the kiddos had a blast.

The adults had a blast, too...we chowed down on Chicken Express and laughed until we cried over all kinds of family stories.

For example:  Mema shared with us that she picked up a new t-shirt at Goodwill for my cousin who is a theater/drama major at USC (the real one).  It read:  "remember my name, you'll be screaming it later."  Which, in case you're wondering, is a completely appropriate gift from your grandmother if you are a theater major because of course you'll want people to remember your name and scream it later when you are famous.  Because of course that's what the saying means.

I seriously love my family.

Sleeping Arrangements.

Harris (and the rest of our family!) has been blessed with a brand new bed from some good friends...and he absolutely LOVES it.

For now, he's sleeping on the top bunk for "little nap" and the bottom bed for "big nap," and pretty much thinking he's super cool during both.

With the new addition to his room, Babe has made the transition from the crib to a big girl bed.  And even though her new bedding from Granti is super cute, Hadley is pretty adament that she DOES NOT want to sleep in her "new big girl bed."

She'll jump and play and laugh and read and sing in it all night long, but when it comes to actually sleeping, she's not all that crazy about the idea.  Ben's been in charge of breaking her in, though, and each night is progressively getting better and better.  She hasn't realized that she can, in fact, cllimb down off of the bed, and for that we are extremely thankful.  We do get a little nervous, though, because she's all about sleeping on the very edge of the bed; she loves to be as close as she can to it without actually falling off.  I'm thinking the purchase of a bed rail is in our very near future.

Just as soon as I snuggle with those sweet little faces.
