Celebrating Dad.

If you don't know my husband, I'm sorry.  Seriously.  He is one of the kindest, funniest, most pleasant people to be around.  He never meets a stranger, he's incredibly generous, and his heart is huge.  And he has the best laugh in the world.  Everything is more fun when he's around.

Our kids are so incredibly blessed to call him theirs.  For now, at least.  I can only imagine how embarrassing he'll be when they are all teenagers. :)

Anyway, we spent Father's Day morning celebrating the man we love so much.  Ben had to leave for school around 10:00, so the kids and I opted to attend the evening service at church in order to spend more time with our dear ol' dad.

Babe and Harry were so excited to give Ben his gift!  Ben's love language is definitely "gifts," so we always spend a lot of time picking out something thoughtful we think he'll enjoy.  This year, we got him a portable bluetooth speaker so he can hear his itunes playlist and pandora stations anywhere!  We listen to music on our phones quite a bit around here and the speaker has made it so much more enjoyable!  We're always down for a dance party!!!!

After gifts and showers and packing (for Ben), I made sure to take a few pictures before Dad hit the road.  What you see below is basically my heart walking around outside my body.

So thankful for this man and all that he brings to our family.

Happy Father's Day, Daddy!

Father's Day.

What fun we had celebrating one of the most fantastic fathers on the planet last weekend!

The kids LOVE to celebrate and enjoy getting involved in anything that involves a surprise.  They had such fun filling out their "Why I Love My Dad" books from Chick-fil-A and creating a very special card for Ben to open.

Unfortunately, the three river birch trees that we picked out for Ben's gift didn't quite get ordered on time (my bad!), so Harris drew the three trees inside the card so that Ben would know exactly what he was getting.  That little boy is so thoughtful.

The big kids also had the great idea to make breakfast for Ben.  I think they helped for about two minutes.  Babe poured the milk in the pancake mix and Harris stuck an Eggo Waffle in the toaster because "that's what Daddy eats for breakfast."

Whatever.

We spent the rest of the day worshiping, indulging in the Fernando's Sunday buffet with Tyler, Paige, Auntie, and DB, napping, and enjoying dinner with the whole family at Granti's house.

There might have also been a little Rock Band action.

The Beatles version.

Thank you, Daddy, for being you.

Happy Father's Day!

Father's Day.

While I'm not a huge fan of manufactured holidays, I've come to realize how thankful I am for that little day on the calendar set aside to celebrate fathers.  My ultimate goal, of course, is for Ben to feel that we honor and celebrate him and what he does for our family every day, but it's still nice to have a little built-in time every June.

We played it pretty low-key this year and simply enjoyed being together as much as possible.  The morning started, of course, with the gifts.  Harris really, really wanted to purchase one of the following things for Ben:  a new police car, tools to fix a police car, a real hammer, or a hammer that Ben could use to hit himself in the face.  Instead, we went with a screen cover for the ipad and a few pairs of Ben's favorite Banana Republic boxers.

I think everyone was fairly pleased.  Except for Babe, that is...some days she doesn't really dig picture taking.

We spent the morning at church, the afternoon napping, and the evening indulging in Chinese takeout, burning some calories on the swingset, and building some policeman legos...all things our Daddy is pretty good at doing.

Happy, Happy Father's Day, Ben!  Thank you for loving us!!  We love you all the way to the moon and back!
