Beach Bash 2011.
Thanks to the furlough day, we were able to enjoy a three-day weekend in Destin with the Boozers and the Mayfields (minus Shane). It was a quick trip, but sooooo worth it.
We basically spent our time sleeping, eating, watching football, and hanging out on the beach. Pretty awesome way to spend the weekend if you ask me. :)
Beach highlights for the kids included being buried and collecting dead jellyfish.
Beach highlights for the adults mostly included relaxing.
Daddy Boozer made sure we were well fed throughout the duration of the trip. We hit up The Crab Trap, The Red Bar, Harbor Docks, Mellow Mushroom, and The Donut Hole all within three days. When I type it out like that, it sounds a little gluttonous. But it sure was good.
In addition to the beach, the condo also had access to a splash pad and two large swimming pools (including a lazy river!).
We spent a late afternoon hanging out at the pool and in the hot tub (well, I didn't get in the hot tub) before heading out for a night at the go cart track.
Harris had a blast racing with the boys and Cadence, and Babe chose to ride the "horsies" instead.
Both Ben and I agree that the fall beach trip is definitely somethng we'd like to repeat.
Once we've recovered from this one, that is.

Emmy Update.
We're eight weeks out.
Eight.
We've scheduled our c-section for December 5, which is exactly eight weeks from today. And that, friends, is both unbelievably exciting and remotely terrifying all at the same time.
We had an ultrasound and our 30-week check-up last Tuesday. Everything looked great! Emmy's little legs were long and stretched out, and the tech was 99% sure that the cord is no longer around the baby's thigh. We even got a weight estimate at four pounds, so my little chunker is pretty much right on track!
The best part of the visit, though, was that because it was early release, Ben and I took Harris with us to the ultrasound. It was soooo much fun to watch him watch the screen and try to process all that was going on. He was full of questions for the ultrasound tech, my favorite of which was this: "So, when she is born...will she be all white or, I mean, what will she look like?" My sweet boy doesn't quite understand the concept of black and white pictures. :)
Harry left with his very own snapshot of Emmy's foot, and, according to his kindergarten teacher, was so, so proud of his special trip.
It's about to get real...and even though I'm not anywhere close to being ready, I can't wait!

Celebrating Cultures.
Harry's class proudly represented Germany.
Complete with lederhosen, edelweiss, pretzels, sauerkraut, and lots and lots and lots of "Guten Tag!"
There was even a little performance of "It's A Small World." Harris belted it out with the best of them.
We love Primrose.

Corn Dawgs.
In an effort to beat the October rush (and because we had some free time!), we headed to Corn Dawgs for their Opening Weekend. Granti and Sam joined us for the afternoon, and a fantastic time was had by all. The crowd was super light, which was great, but the weather got a little tricky on us and by the end of the day we were all pouring sweat! Happy Fall, y'all!
Once again, this pregnant Mama took a backseat role while everyone else enjoyed themselves on the attractions. The kids made an immediate beeline for the giant slides.
And the cow train was a very close second.
We also hit up the younger kids' play area, with the tricycle track, horse swings, baby zip line, and more. Climbing in and out of the boats and planes, swinging on ropes, and visitng the pet zoo were also big hits.
We also took a trip through the corn maze!
Harris' favorite part by far was the hayride. Babe enjoyed it, too...mostly because she heard a family speaking a different language and made sure to ask, "Are they acting Spanish?" Thankfully the other family laughed right along with us! Homegirl is all about her Spanish these days.
We spent most of our time in the corn box. It was a dirty, dusty mess, but it kept everyone happily occupied for quite a while.
We finished up with day with drinks to cool off and a stop by Zaxby's for dinner.
Minus the heat, I can't think of a better way to kick off my favorite season of the year. I am sooooo looking forward to cooler temperatures...hopefully they'll show up sooner rather than later!

Our Captain.
A couple of Saturdays ago, Ben had to do about an hour's worth of work at his office, so the kids and I tagged along. His office actually backs up to a pretty nice park, so while Ben got his face time in, Harry, Babe, and I enjoyed a morning on the playground.
We hadn't been down to good ol' L-town since Ben got his new office space, so the kids had a great time checking that out as well.
Harry even made himself at home on the police bike!
We finished up the morning by meeting some good friends for lunch at Los Hermanos. Man, I love that place.

Glory, Glory.
Holy smokes! Time is flying. I guess it's easy to see that blogging is taking a backseat to sleeping these days...but hang on tight because I'm going to try to get caught up this week!
We've had a lot of exciting things going on these last few weeks, but one of the highlights by far has been introducing Hadley to Game Day in Athens.
We headed up to the UGA vs. Coastal Carolina game back in the middle of September. Harris, as always, was super stoked and Babe was pretty excited, too. She couldn't wait to put on her "black G-Dawgs dress!"
Biggie Chase and Laura spent the night with us on Friday night, so we all got up bright and early Saturday morning to put the finishing touches on our tailgate provisions before making the trek up 316. We spent the morning hanging out with these crazy fools,
and even though Hadley was the only girl around, she had a fantastic time "teaching" all of us her Spanish skills. The girl can hold her own.
Babe lucked out and was able to hitch a ride on Ben's shoulders all the way to the stadium, and once inside, she ate up every inch of the atmosphere. My sweet girl yelled along with all the cheers, LOVED watching Hairy Dawg run the flag across the endzone, and ate up some cotton candy (as did her brother).
Because it was Lettermen's Day, we got to head onto the field at halftime.
The kids high-fived Hairy Dawg and thorougly enjoyed running like crazy through the endzone. Tackling Daddy was a halftime highlight, too.
When the players re-entered the field, Babe made sure to tell me that she was going to "touch everyone's hand." She came pretty close. :)
Not too shabby for a first game. (Harry's first game was Lettermen's Day last season. I might see the beginning of yet another family tradition.)
We ended the day with a quick snack in The Lettermen's Club before heading back to the truck. Harris scored a picture with his jersey namesake, and both kids indulged in cookies and popcorn as an after-game treat.
As I type this, I realize that they might be slightly spoiled. But, in our defense, at least we're raising them right.
Go Dawgs!!
